Video interactivo Virgin America
There’s a lot of audiovisual content available online. We all know that. What some producers do not seem to know is that the first filter for making people watch their content, recommend it, enjoy it and get the message is its quality.

We liked this production named Experience Virgin America.

The interactive experience itself is not extraordinary. A video is shown and it pauses a few times so that the viewer interacts with it by dragging a red ball (I guess they monitor and register the users’ behaviour to see how many people does that ;) and the video keeps on playing.

In other moments, some clickable hotspots appear over the video. When clicked, they show some of the additional services provided by Virgin America on their flights.

I suppose that the aim is to impact the viewer and make him feel that Virgin is fully into the 21st century. And that flying Virgin means that you have all the entertainment and connectivity services you may need. Services that you don’t find in other airlines.

Interactivity in esoterism and mistery videos

Recently, a video published on youtube and vimeo has become viral in some blogs and networks keen on mistery, esoterism, ocultism and similar knowledge.

The video, “I, Pet Goat II” is a 7 minute piece of hypnotic images that shows, in a dark environment, a parade of characters and symbols and recent historical events that has been as honey for bees (bees are people devoted to mistery, conspirational theories truth-searchers…. maybe all of us in some way)

This short piece is the ideal candidate, both due to its virality among some blogs, and to the numerous symbols that appear along the video: goats, numbers, icons from differente religions, known characters like Bush or Obama or Bin-Laden…

By adding interactivity, you could just let the viewer watch the video or activate additional information to explain all those symbols and references taht appear on screen. Some elements could be highlighted, some scenes could be further explained…

We do not know yet if the video is an experiment to see the different interpretations given to it or if it is an advertising campaign that uses the need of truth that we have as humans (and the excess of information and sometimes lack of truth we find in our world). Whatever it is, it’s a nice piece of art. And a perfect candidate for being enriched (or enlightened ;) with interactivity and additional content.

Product placment digital en Forrest GumpWe are seeing a fast improvement in product placement techniques, which are the perfect partner for the interactive video solutions we work with.

although there are several companies working on DPP (mainly in Israel and India and most of them with a branch in California), let’s use these two examples:

The first video comes from a program called “Is That a Thing?” and shows the product placement tools developed by SeamBI.

The other video is cooler. It shows MirriAd ‘s solution for digital product placement:

You may think that’s too much, but let’s consider that advertising is necessary in any society that has more than a single provider for a specific product or service and that somebody must pay if we want quality audiovisual content. Advertising is a way of paying all that.

On the other hand, product placement is going to be there anyway and it’s not important if it is made while the movie is being shooted or in a post-production stage. Furthermore, we could see ads and offers included in real time according to the viewer location, the season of the year, the weather, the events celebrated (a ford ad in China, a Seat ad in Mexico, a coca-cola placed in the summer and a tea in the winter time, a nike campaign a month befor the Olympics …)

All that, together with interactive video is one of the opportunities we have in front of us for this XXI century advertising business. And we will keep on showing you some examples and learning to provide the best services ever.
